FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 09, 2000
I haven't heard Lynn Frances Anderson sing in quite a while, and
last night discovered what a loss that truly is. Always an impressive lyricist who writes
and sings from the heart, Ms. Anderson has developed a depth of both voice and style that
takes her from being a singer-songrwriter with talent to a true and professional
performer. Her stage presence is warm and intimate as she lets her feelings and emotions
flow through the adoring crowd. Subtly allowing her sensuality to surface along with her
warmth and empathatic nature, she fills each song with obviously genuine emotion.
The decision to mix her own works with classic blues is inspired. The deepening and polish that maturity has given her already astounding voice has made it a perfect instrument for the throaty sexuality of the blues. Her back-up band is a perfect compliment to Ms. Anderson's burgeoning talent, both as humorous foils to her quick wit and as musical support. Mary J Curtis' harmonica playing is a perfect offset to the intensity of Ms. Anderson's voice, which by the way, is in use for virtually the whole 2 hour concert (without ever showing signs of weakening).
I was prepared to be impressed and entertained, instead I was simply blown away. This lady, and her band, deserve a much broader and numerous audience. I doubt that anyone in the crowd left without becoming a true fan. Only one word seems to echo at the end of a Lynn Frances Anderson concert: Encore!
