ABOUT BORN LUCKY

I titled this CD "Born Lucky" because I think that life is defined by how we look at it. I choose to seek the positive in challenging or painful situations. It has been a long road to living life this way, but, an enlightening journey.

We can view adversity as opportunity, and I do. I believe we are placed here on this earth for a purpose. Mine is to write music, and do everything within my power to bring the music I create to you.

Many of the songs on this recording I wrote while I was completing my music degree at the University of Oregon in Eugene in 2004-2005. At 38, I took a gamble and stepped back from my performing career to become a better musician.

Musicians often refer to isolating oneself to write as 'woodshedding'. For me, my time away was an enormous time of growth - spiritually, musically, personally. Four days of the week I was in what I began to refer to as "the monastery". I lived in a small secluded apartment in Eugene. I returned on the weekends to my home in Portland. I studied music, working to be a better musician, and a different kind of person. It was a very humbling experience. I was overwhelmed with a shyness I had not known since I was six years old.

I seek out ways to expand myself spiritually. I faced the fears I had about going back to complete my music degree after such a long time away. They were many fears, some discovered in the process. I succeeded, and I am grateful for having the opportunity.

I believe in "good luck", but only in the way that I believe we choose how we respond to our life's obstacles. I have chosen to feel fortunate in the adversity and the blessings in my life. May you find comfort in this music. ~~~Lynn

2010... In the months following the release of Born Lucky I was faced with the most difficult time of my life so far. My beliefs about positivity, gratitude, overcoming adversity - all put to the test. Over the 3+ years that followed, my life changed completely, but, the music benefited, and
One Fine Day was created.
